One more thing
A shoe that zips open all the way around
I came across a shoe company, and the story stuck with me.
In 1996, a few weeks into his freshman year of college, Billy Price fell three stories and was left paralyzed from the chest down. For 18 years he couldn't put his own shoes on. Then at a Christmas party in 2011, he pitched an idea to his friend Darin Donaldson: a zipper that runs along the side and around the toe, so the whole top of the shoe folds open and your foot goes in flat.
Darin built a prototype. It worked. Billy was 36 and putting his shoes on by himself again. What Billy calls their "shoe side hustle" became BILLY Footwear in 2015. They make sneakers and boots for adults and kids.
What got me is the whole idea was a shoe that doesn't look like a "special" shoe. It just looks like a shoe.
