Stuff We Want: JLab Rewind 2, the Headphones Grew a Mullet

Your headphones were supposed to be invisible. Then a chorus from a cassette decade started, and invisible lost. The JLab Rewind 2 walks in looking like it still owes a boombox a phone call.

These are the black retro on-ear pair: a lightweight build, an adjustable headband, and foam pads you swap between the included orange set and the black set. Same headphones. Two moods. Your jacket can stop negotiating.

Bluetooth Multipoint keeps two devices connected at once, so the laptop and the phone can both live in the headband and interrupt each other like roommates. Wireless Share Mode lets a friend listen from the same source. Android gets Google Fast Pair. The JLab app, on iOS and Android, is where you set the EQ, remap the controls, adjust Be Aware, and pick up firmware updates.

EQ3 is three presets on the headphones: JLab Signature, Balanced, or Bass Boost. Controls on the earcup handle volume, track skips, and calls. Bluetooth playtime on the listing is 20+ hours, then a USB-C charge when the throwback finally taps out. Both foam pad sets come included, and JLab backs the pair with a 2-year warranty.

That clip is the fitting room. Same black pair, same situation where a normal commute suddenly looks like a music-video prop, before you commit to carrying it on your head.

Who it's for: the commute that wants a throwback silhouette and a current connection, and the friend who will change the foam color before they change the song.

Skip it if you want a big over-ear bunker or a tiny in-ear nobody can see. These sit on the ear, and they want credit for it.

The verdict: hand-picked for the day your playlist needs a look. Retro foam on the outside, multipoint and USB-C on the inside. The boombox can stay in the attic.
